Employment Training Opportunities

The Community of Marshall supports lifelong learning, and offers a variety of ways for residents to update their job skills.  

Southwest/West Central Service Cooperative, located at the Market Street Mall (1420 East College Drive), offers a variety of technology workshops for school staff, businesses and community personnel. Included in their winter schedule are workshops on telecommunications, Microsoft Office Applications, and personal and small business software. Minnesota West Community and Technical College operates a Marshall center at 344 West Main Street, offering a variety of business workshops.  Contact them at 507-537-7051, or visit their web site for current class listings.

Southwest Minnesota State University's Center for Outreach Education offers classes and workshops aimed at improving employment skills.  Contact them at 507-537-7363.

A variety of workshops are also sponsored by community organizations throughout the year.  Upcoming workshops include:

  • Nurturing Entrepreneurship:  5th Annual Southwest and Central Minnesota Workforce Summit scheduled for October 16 -  The Southwest Minnesota Workforce Council and Central Minnesota Workforce Investment Board will sponsor a workforce summit on October 16.  Topics include marketing, finance, using the internet, and much more.  Visit www.swmnpic.org/events.html for more information.
